Project Management

Merritt Computing has  U.S.-based Project Management. This option guarantee a high level of professionalism and quality, project communication in English and delivery on time and on budget. A competitively priced U.S.-based Project Management option is recommended for urgent or mission-critical projects or for the projects with unclear initial user requirements or specifications.

Quality Control

Merritt Computing's Quality Management team uses leading methodologies and tools to assure that delivered software is free of defects. All the delivered software is fully tested. The tests include Code Peer Review, Unit Testing, Regression Testing, Performance and Stress Testing (special attention to memory leaks and file descriptor leaks), Security and Vulnerability Testing and Integration Testing. In addition, Merritt Computing actively engages its clients in the User Acceptance Testing of the delivered software.

Team Composition

Design and development of each project is lead by a Technical Lead. The project team, even for the smallest of the projects, consists of a minimum of two people. This ensures the project survivability in a very unlikely event of unavailability of a project team member ( a proverbial ""hit by a bus"" factor).

Training and Recruitment

Merritt Computing reinvests a significant portion of its revenues into the ongoing training of its staff on the new releases of vendor software and on new advanced technologies. Merritt Computing is actively looking for the recruitment of top talent from region's top colleges and universities.

Intellectual Property

PROJECT MATERIALS.

The source code, test scenarios, specifications and documentations of the software developed by Merritt Computing on the work-for-hire basis are the sole and exclusive property of its client. Upon the completion of the project Merritt Computing promptly returns to the client all the documentation and data furnished by the client for working on the project and source code (Project Materials) developed by Merritt Computing in the process of working on the project. For the duration of Warranty Period Merritt Computing keeps the Project Materials minimally necessary for the support and maintenance of the software. Upon the expiration of the Warranty Period, Merritt Computing annihilates all the remaining copies of the Project Materials. Under no circumstances Merritt Computing shares the Project Materials with a 3rd party, unless specifically authorized by client in writing.

3RD PARTY SOFTWARE

In working on the project Merritt Computing uses licensed copies of 3rd party vendor software. Merritt Computing fully discloses all 3rd party software components used or included into the making of the client software.

DATA CONFIDENTIALITY

Merritt Computing treats all the data furnished by a client as highly confidential property of the client. Merritt Computing is aware and is fully supportive of government policies protecting the privacy of the individual's data (e.g., U.S. HIPAA act).

Geographical location of Merritt Computing and realities of economics of modern global marketplace allow Merritt Computing to offer world-class expert-level talent at very reasonable, competitive prices. Depending on the project needs, specifications and duration, Merritt Computing offers project-based (fixed) prices or per-hour prices. For urgent, mission-critical projects or project with uncertain or unclear user specifications, Merritt Computing recommends to engage its U.S.-based Project Management team. Merritt Computing is in a unique position to offer a very attractive blended rate or very substantial discounts for the work on the projects led by the members of its U.S. team (normally priced well outside the budgetary constraints of most of Merritt Computing's customers).

Software development methodology

Merritt Computing practices Rapid Prototyping and Staged Software Delivery methodology. Under this methodology the software releases are built frequently and delivered to client for reviewing and feedback. Such active engagement of the client into the development process assures that client's expectations are met at a high level of satisfaction and quality. Suggested stages of the software delivery are:

stage1.jpg

Concept and Design - Merritt Computings tudies client's requirements and specifications and produces concept-level specification. The specification is submitted for client's review and feedback. This document is a "living document"; as the project progresses, the document is updated with the detail-level specification. Towards the end of the project this document become an official technical specification of the software.

stage2.jpg

Prototype Release - The purpose of prototype releases (and there can be a number of them - each adding more and more functionality) is to confirm understanding of client's needs and requirements; confirm the specifics of the environment where software is going to operate; and provide client with an opportunity to test the look and feel and ergonomics of user interface and report layouts.

stage3.jpg

Alpha Release - This release has all the essential functions implemented and serves, in a way, as a "last call for changes", providing the client an opportunity to make the necessary adjustments to the functionality, look and feel, reports, etc.

stage4.jpg

Beta Release - The beta-release is a fully-functional software with all of the features and functions implemented. The purpose of this release is to perform final testing, performance tuning, necessary adjustments to particular user environment, etc.

stage5.jpg

Final Release - This is a final release of software. All the software developed by Merritt Computing is covered by its Bug-Free Warranty (see Prices and Warranty section). In addition Merritt Computing offers an optional Extended Warranty coverage.

Warranty

QA_MC_100.png

Bug-Free Warranty

Software defects (software behavior, which contradicts the software specification or documentation, and/or reasonable and accepted industry norms and practices) which existed in the delivered and accepted software and discovered within 90 calendar days of the acceptance of the software by client will be corrected free of charge.

ext_warr.jpg

Extended Warranty

Merritt Computing offers optional 1 or 3 year extended warranty policy under which any software defects (software behavior, which contradicts the software specification or documentation, and/or reasonable and accepted by industry norms and practices) which existed in the delivered and accepted software and discovered after 90 calendar days of the acceptance of the software by client will be corrected free of additional charge.
